Kirjoitin aiemmin tällä viikolla töissä kolumnin, jossa puhuin etenkin vanhempien henkilöiden alentavasta suhtautumisesta kesätyöntekijöihin. Kolumni herätti keskustelua työporukan sisällä. Sain usealta henkilöltä palautetta, että tunnistavat hyvin kuvailemani tilanteet, jossa työntekijää katsotaan alaspäin vain, koska hän on kesuri, ja oletetaan olevan huonompi työssään.
Koin aiemmin kesällä ikävän hetken töissä, johon viittaan myös kolumnissani. Työpaikan edustajana en viitsinyt kertoa tapauksesta tarkemmin, mutta omassa vapaa-ajan blogissa uskallan jotain sanoakin. Haastateltava henkilö siis totesi mulle heti alkuun puhelimessa mun olevan ”varmaan joku kesätoimittaja, joka tekee niin kuin käsketään eikä ajattele itse”. Hän korosti tietävänsä median parissa toimimisesta enemmän kuin minä, toimittaja. Myöhemmin hän soitti aikaistakseen sovittua keikkaa, käski mun tulla paikalle saman tien ja lopetti puhelun sanoihin kipi kipi.
Olin niiiin vihainen, mutta hoidin keikan silti asiallisesti enkä näyttänyt kiukkuani, vaikka fiilikseni olivatkin ihan aiheellisia. Eniten harmittaa, ettei mun tapaus ole tosiaankaan yksittäinen vaan kesätyöntekijät saavat jatkuvasti kuulla ikäviä kommentteja ja huonoa asennetta.
Aina jaksetaan paasata, miten nuorten pitäisi mennä töihin. Kuitenkin kun nuoriso menee töihin, heitä haukutaan huonoiksi työntekijöiksi ja yritetään väen vängällä lytätä itsetunto alas. Kukaan uraansa aloitteleva ei voi olla huippuhyvä tekijä alkuun, eikä se liity edes mitenkään työntekijän ikään tai sopimuksen vuodenaikaan.
Oon niin monta kertaa lukenut somesta, miten jotkut haukkuvat yleensä aspatyöntekijöitä, ja aloittavat juttunsa puhumalla jostain nuoresta kesäapulaisesta… Ah, mua ärsyttää jo sana kesäapulainen. Ei siinä mitään, jos kyse on oikeasti apulaisena toimimisesta, mutta usein kesätyöntekijät tekevät ihan niitä samoja hommia kuin vakituisetkin.
Esimerkiksi omalla työpaikallani ja media-alalla yleensäkin kesätoimittajat tekevät tasan samoja töitä kuin vakituiset tai määräaikaiset toimittajat. Yhtä lailla kesurit ja vakkarit kirjoittavat talouskiiseistä ja hellehatuista, tekevät jutun alusta loppuun ja kantavat jälkiseuraukset. Mitä väliä sillä sopparin pituudella on kun se ei edes automaattisesti korreloi osaamisen kanssa?
