Bongasin Matkalla Missä Milloinkin -blogista hauskan haasteen, jossa mietitään omaa identiteettiä matkustajana. Mulla on aika vahva käsitys siitä, millainen matkailija olen, joten oli kiva pohtia syvällisemmin kohtia ja miettiä, osuuko oma etukäteisarvioni oikeaan. Reppureissaaja vai luksusmatkailija?
Viime aikoina ei ole tullut tehtyä paljoa kumpaakaan, mutta henkisesti olen enemmän reppureissaaja. Viimeisimmälle ulkomaan matkalleni Uumajaan lähdin rinkan kanssa. Rinkka on muutenkin suosikkilaukkuni, tavaroiden selässä kantaminen kun on usein helpompaa kuin matkalaukun mukana vetäminen. Luksushotellissa en ole ikinä yöpynyt, ja laadukkaimmat majapaikkanikin ovat yleensä vähän alle keskitason luokituksia saaneita. Sen sijaan olen yöpynyt usein hostelleissa ja joskus jopa tuntemattoman sohvalla couchsurfaamassa.
Yksin matkustaessani en ole aina päättänyt etukäteen tarkkaa reittiä, matkakohdetta tai yöpymistä, vaan olen säveltänyt sitä mukaan kun matka on edennyt. Majapaikat ovat voineet olla aika murjuja, eikä päivän suunnitelmaa ole tarvinnut tietää edellisenä iltana. Identifioidun siis selvästi enemmän reppureissaajaksi. Nyt poikaystävän ollessa matkakumppanini olen kuitenkin alkanut asettaa korkeampaa rimaa majoitukselleni – kahden hengen huone omalla kylppärillä on minimi. Aika kaukana luksusmatkailusta ollaan silti. Toki unelmaani kuuluu myös yhdessä roadtrippailu teltassa, laavuissa ja autiotuvissa nukkuen. Ei sekään ihan luksusmatkailua.

Omatoimi- vai pakettimatkailija?
Oon ollut itsenäisesti matkustaessa kolmella pakettimatkalla: viikon löhölomalla Turkissa tarkoituksenani rentoutua auringossa ylioppilaskirjoitusten jälkeen, sekä kaksi kertaa Uumajassa laiva+hotellipaketin turvin yhden yön yli. Muuten olen tehnyt omatoimimatkoja. Majoitukset ja liput matkustusvälineisiin on varattu erikseen, eikä matkaa ennen ole tehty aktiviteettivarauksia tai muita vastaavia.

Turre vai asiantuntija?
Tämä oli kohdista hankalin siksi, että mun oli hieman hankala ymmärtää tätä. Totta kai olen turre eli turisti kaikissa paikoissa, jossa olen vain vierailulla, enkä asu. Musta on sitäpaitsi hyvä olla joskus ihan omassa kotikaupungissakin turistina. Jaottelen tän kohdan siis itse oman mieleni mukaan: turre on se, joka käy katsomassa turistikohteet ja elää nähtävyydestä nähtävyyteen, asiantuntija se, joka ottaa kaiken mahdollisen selvää etukäteen ja imee itseensä jokaisen poliittisen ja kulttuurillisen piirteen saadakseen kaiken irti kohteesta.
Mä otan aina kaikesta selvää etukäteen, ja nytkin oon jo kysellyt vinkkejä helmikuussa tapahtuvalle matkalle. Yritän selvittää asioita, jotta saisin kohteesta kaiken mahdollisen irti. Toisaalta rakastan nähdä kaikki ne ikoniset turistikohteet, sillä ne on kuitenkin nähtävä juuri siksi, että voi todeta itselleen, että nyt ne on sitten nähty. En myöskään tiedä kohteista omasta kokemuksesta paljoa, sillä harvemmin valitsen samaa kohdetta uudestaan. Luotan paljon muiden vinkkeihin.

Somettaja vai seikkailija?
Ah, some on mun paheeni kyllä matkoillakin. Reaaliaikaisesti en päivitä juuri mitään, mutta ”vitsi tästä tulisi hyvä kuva blogiin” on varmaan paljon mun suusta kuultu lause. En haluaisi tylsistyttää matkakumppanin reissua pakottamalla hänet ottamaan minusta kuvia, mutta mitä vaan somen takia… Ei.
Reissuilla en jaksa metsästää samalla tavalla täydellisiä kuvia, kuin joku harmoninen instafeed vaatisi. Haluan nauttia reissuista silloin, kun siellä olen. Siksi otan kuvia, jotta voin jälkeenpäin palata tunnelmiin. Rakastan kuvausta ja kuljenkin aina kamera kädessäni ottamassa kuvia kaikesta, erityisesti rakennuksista, mutta julkaisun jätän myöhemmäksi. On totta, että joudun pysähtelemään useammin valokuvauksen takia jonnekin kävellessäni, mutta en jumitu liikaa katsomaan asioita kameran linssin takaa. Usein parhaat seikkailut alkavatkin vasta silloin, kun puhelimen akku loppuu…

Suorittaja vai nautiskelija?
Suorittaja on tehnyt etukäteen bucket listin kohteessa nähtävistä ja koettavista asioista, ja käy listaa orjallisesti läpi ehtiäkseen tehdä kaiken. Nautiskelija ei suunnittele menojaan etukäteen, vaan fiilispohjalla tekee sitä mitä jaksaa ja jättää muun välistä. Suorittaja keskittyy elämiseen ja kokemiseen, nautiskelija tunnelmaan ja ruokaan.
Mä olen tässäkin molempia, mutta ehkä kuitenkin enemmän suorittaja. Suoritan kuitenkin vain niitä asioit, joita oikeasti haluan, eli josta nautin. Haluan kuitenkin käyttää aikani tehokkaasti ja tehdä paljon asioita matkalla ollessani. Kaksi kertaa olen osannut luopua suorittamisesta ja ihan vaan olla: yksinmatkallani Makedoniassa kuumeen noustessa vajosin sängyn pohjalle jo iltakuudelta ja annoin itselleni luvan makoilla siinä ilman huonoa omatuntoa, sekä parisuhdematkalla Uumajassa räntäsateen ollessa niin läpitunkevan rankkaa, että päätimme suosiolla unohtaa näköalakierroksella tarpomisen, hakea pikaruokaketjusta ruokaa ja katsoa hotellin telkkarista jalkapalloa. Kummatkin parhaita ja matkan onnistumisten kannoilta täysin oikeita päätöksiä.
Tuomio: Suorittaja
Olipas kiva mietiskellä omaa matkustusidentiteettiään. Onneksi kaikki asiat eivät ole mustavalkoisia joko tai -tyypisiä, vaan kultainen keskitie on yleensä paras. Olisi kiva kuulla, mitä te muut matkustamisesta pitävät vastaisitte näihin kohtiin!

Ehdottomasti pitäisi! Oman itsensä tuntemuskin laajenee, kun näitä ihan tosissaan pohtii. Tätä oli kiva tehdä! 🙂
Pitäisipä miettiä kysymykset uusiksi omalta kohdaltani. En löytänyt ihan valmiiksi mitään muuta kuin omatoimimatkailijan. Olemme hitaita, viipyviä kodinvaihtajia, automatkailijoita, jotka suorittavat mitä haluavat, nautiskelevat viipyilemisestä, mutta eivät ikinä auringosta, uima-altaista tai ravintoloista.

Aloin kanssa miettiä, mitä vastaisin, mutta tosiaan, vaikea olisi kategerisoida monissa kohdissa vain jompaan kumpaan. Eivätkä vaihtoehdot ome välttämättä toisensa poissulkevia.
Tuli kirjoittamastasi mieleen, että tosi harvoin tulee lähdettyä pakettimatkalle, mutta tykkään reissun päällä osallistua etenkin paikallisten retkien järjestäjien retkiin yms. Myös joku inspiroiva teemamatka kiinnostaa 🙂

Näihin oli kiva pohtia vastauksia, vaikka nyt jälkikäteen tuntuukin, että itsellä matkailutapoja on yhtä monta erilaista kuin matkojakin. Toisilla reissuilla haluan nähdä kaiken nopeasti, toisilla nautin tunnelmasta ja levähtämisestä. Riippuu paljon siitäkin, otanko matkan reissun vai loman kannalta. 🙂
Ole hyvä! Tämä oli sen verran mukava haaste, että halusin jo itseänikin varten pohtia näitä asioita. Toivotaan, että tämä lähtisi leviämään – ainakin muutamasta blogista olen tämän jo löytänyt (ja kommenttikentistä päätellen olet lukenut samat, heh). 🙂
Kannattaa ottaa haaste myös omaan blogiin! Mä aina tällaisten kohdalla mietin omia vastauksia, mutta lopulta kun alan kirjoittamaan niitä muiden nähtäväksi, saatan pohtia syvällisemmin ja muuttaa alkuperäistä ajatustani. Oikeastaan en yhtään tykkää valita joko tai -tyyppisiä juttuja, koska usein sopivin vastaus löytyy välimaastosta (ja vastakkainasettelussa voi joutua myöntämään olevansa se vähemmän toivottu vaihtoehto).
Mä olen aina ajatellut olevani omatoimimatkailija, mutta juurikin teemamatkat ja paikan päällä ostetut valmiit retket ovat tietyllä tapaa niitä paketteja, vaikkeivat ihan samassa merkityksessä missä olen itse pakettimatkat ajatellut. Harvemmin on tullut retkiä ostettua, mutta en kyllä näe niissä mitään vikaa. Ei ole vain vielä sattunut omalle kohdalle. Toisaalta taas jotkut paikat, kuten safarit, on sellaisia, jonne en omin päin haluaisikaan lähteä. 🙂
Kannattaa muistaa, että "pakettimatkoja" on paljon muunkinlaisia kuin löhölomia auringossa. Me teemme paljon valmiiksi kasattuja ja järjestettyjä kiertomatkoja, esimerkiksi viime syksynä kaikki Keski-Amerikan valtiot kuukauden reissulla. On myös mahdollista ostaa valmiiksi kasattu matka paikalliskuljetuksineen ja oppaineen omien toiveiden mukaisesti siten, että ko. matkalle osallistuu vaan vaikka vain me, siis pariskunta. Eikä hintakaan välttämättä ole vaikka valmista ryhmäkiertomatkaa korkeampi. Helpompaa ja mukavampaa kuin ihan omatoimimatkailu, eli skaalan ostat vaan lennot ja lähdet ja aurinkoloma Turkin rannalla samassa paikassa koko viikko välillä on aika paljonkin erilaista tarjontaa.
Muistissa on, siksi nostinkin tuohon esimerkkinä Afrikan safarit tai valokuvauspaketit. Aiemmin ajatteinkin pakettimatkan olevan vaan se löhöloma, mutta koitin jo postaukseen tuoda esiin, että muitakin vaihtoehtoja on. Itse olen tosiaan kaksi kertaa matkustanut Vaasasta Uumajaan pakettimatkalla, joka sisälsi laivamatkat ja hotellimajoituksen. Tuli vaan halvemmaksi ottaa paketti kuin lähteä sooloilemaan. Teidän matkat kuulostavat kyllä juuri teille sopivilta. Parasta onkin, jos pakettia voi muokata ja muovailla oman näköiseksi – sillon ainakin saa parasta vastinetta rahoilleen. 🙂
Tämä on tosiaan mielenkiintoinen ja kiva haaste! Itse olen selkeästi reppureissaaja ja omatoimi matkailija mutta loppuihin on hankala vastata kun tuntuu et suht 50/50..:P ehdottomasti seikkailija mutta kyllä se some kulkee mukana myös 😉 niinkun varmasti meillä kaikilla bloggaajilla hah! Mutta kiitos postauksesta ja analyyseistä, näitä oli mukava lukea 🙂
Moni kohta on kyllä hankala, varsinkin kun yleisestikään ei halua luokitella itseään mihinkään ääripäähän. Yllättävän hyvin noista kuitenkin sai lopulta päätettyä kumpaan kuuluu, kun ei antanut itselleen mahdollisuutta valita keskitietä. 😀
Joo, tuo sometus vaan kuuluu bloggaajan elämään, ei siitä mihinkään pääse. Haluaisin nauttia täysillä maisemista, mutta usein tulee katsottua niitä kyllä kameran lävitse. Toisaalta kuvaaminen on sen verran kivaa hommaa, ettei se haittaa tunnelmaa. Usein kyllä on käynyt niin, että mietin, että tästä saisi hyvän kuvan, mutta keskityn niin täysillä itse asiaan etten ala kaivaa kameraa laukusta. Blogille huonompi, mutta itselle ihan kiva juttu sekin. 😀

Mä oon myös nähny tän haasteen ja mietin, että pitäisikö osallistua siihen, mutta kuten moni muukin totesi, on monessa kohdassa vaikea valita kumpaanko kuuluisi. Ja tuossa seikkailija vai somettaja kohdassa, niin onko ne edes toisiaan pois sulkevia. Koen ainakin olevani seikkailija, joka somettaa matkoilta. Enkä pelkästään kuvaa somea varten, vaan haluan ikuistaa asioita muistoiksi ja tykkään muutenkin katsoa maailmaa kameran linssin läpi, nähdä eri puolia asioista, joita ikuistaa.
Mullakin oli muiden haasteita lukiessa hankaluuksia valita kategoriaa, mutta kirjoittaessa eli ikään kuin sanoessa ääneen luokittelu selkiytyikin nopeasti pääsäni. Suosittelen siis tekemään tämän!
Somettava seikkailija on kyllä se, mitä minäkin eniten olen. Myönnän ajattelevani kuvausta usein some edellä, mutta kuvaan kyllä ihan omiin kansiohinkin muistoja. Näin bloggaajana sitä kuitenkin myös miettii paljon somepuolta kuvatessa. Eihän nuo mitkään kohdat sulje toisiaan pois täysin, onneksi voi olla vähän kaikkea! 🙂
