Kuukauden ekovinkki -postaussarjassa esitellään joka kuukausi yksi iso tai pieni ekovinkki. Postaussarjan tarkoitus on kannustaa ekologisiin ratkaisuihin kotona ja arjessa.
Sauno vähemmällä sähköllä
Kuka rakastaa saunomista? Minä ainakin. Älkää antako mun aloittaa siitä tragediasta, etten ole päässyt saunomaan puoleen vuoteen. Entinen himosaunoja kärsii vieroitusoireista ja odottaa innolla yleisten saunojen aukeamista…
Meidän viimeisimmässä Vaasan kodissa oli sauna, ja siitä innostuneena saunoimme alkuun joka päivä. Myöhemmin vähennettiin niin, että saunoimme ehkä viisi kertaa viikossa. Eli edelleen ihan järjetön määrä, mutta ah, se teki hvvää. Olin kuitenkin aika huolissani sähkön kulutuksesta saunoessa (viimeistään siinä vaiheessa, kun ensimmäinen sähkölasku tuli). Miten saunoa ja rentoutua löylyissä ilman, että sähkön kulutus kasvaa mielettömän suureksi?
Ratkaisu on tässä:
1. Mene saunaan heti, kun se on tarpeeksi lämmin. Älä anna saunan olla päällä ylimääräistä aikaa ennen sinne menoa – silloin kulutat sähköä ja sauna kerkeää kuumenemaan epämukavan kuumaksi.
Edellinen kohta on varmasti kaikille tuttu ja tiedossa, mutta seuraava kohta tuli minulle uutena:
2. Mene saunaan, heitä muutamat löylyt ja laita kiuas pois päältä. Kun kiuas on kerran ehtinyt kuumenemaan niin, että saunassa on kuutisenkymmentä astetta lämmintä, pitävät kiukaan jälkilämmöt saunan ihanan lämpöisenä vielä pitkään. Löylyä pystyy myös heittämään silloin, kun kiuas ei ole enää päällä.
Kakkoskohta sopii etenkin sellaisille saunojille, jotka eivät ole tyyppiä ”viisi minuuttia tuskasen kuumaa kipua ja suihkuun” vaan tykkäävät nautiskella. Saatoin itse saunoa helposti tunnin tällä menetelmällä. Kun tunnin saunomisesta kiuas on päällä viitisen minuuttia (+aiempi lämmittäminen, mihin meni alle puoli tuntia), voi pitkästä saunahetkestä nauttia ilman ahdistusta sähkön kulutuksesta ja oikaista pitkäkseen lauteille lämpöä hakemaan. Tämä sopii myös perheisiin, jossa saunotaan vuorotellen: kiukaan ei tarvitse olla päällä jokaista saunojaa varten, se kyllä säilyttää lämpönsä.

Ps. Tämä vinkki sopii sähkösaunoille. Puusaunoista tai muista lämmitystavoista en osaa sanoa mitään.
Meillä ainakin saunasta alkaa kadota lämpö aika nopeasti jos kiukaan laittaa pois päältä, koska 3v kanssa ovesta kulkeminen on välillä aika hidasta ja niitä aukasuja kertyy, kun jokainen tahtoo vilvoitella eri aikaan ja lapselle saattaa iskeä pissahätä jne. Sitten siinä on vielä sekin, että saunan ja kylppärin kuivumisen kannalta olis parempi pitää kiuas päällä niin kauan kuin löylyä heitetään. Me kyllä saunotaan vaan kerran viikossa ja ei kovin pitkästi, kesällä ei ehkä sitäkään, kun koti lämpiää muutenkin liikaa.
Joo, tietty tuo vie paljon lämpöä jos ovea joutuu aukomaan kovasti. Toisaalta esimerkiksi mun edellisessä kodissa, eli kerrostalokaksiossa, pysty hyvin pitämään saunan ovea raollaan sen jälkeen, kun kovat löylyt oli jo heitetty ja kiuas sammutettu. Oli meinaan todella kuuma, ja happea piti välillä päästää sisään. Eli varmasti vaikuttaa myös se, minkälainen ja kokoinen asunto (ja sauna) on.
Monet sanoikin tuosta saunan kuivattamisesta, että kannattaisi pitää kiuasta päällä vielä suihkunkin ajan. Ymmärrän kuivauksen tarpeellisuuden, mutta jos saunoo melkein joka päivä ja viihtyy saunassa kauan, tuntuu tuo kiukaan pitäminen jälkikäteenkin päällä ihan mielettömältä sähkön tuhlaukselta. Jos saunoo kerran viikossa, on asia taas ihan eri. Toki harvemmin saunominen on muutenkin sähköä säästävämpää, mutta säästän mieluummin kaikessa muussa, paitsi saunakertojen määrässä. Riippuu paljon, millainen saunojatyyppi on!
