Tänä vuonna vappuhulinoita vietettiin vähän erilaisin menoin, kuten kaikki varmasti tietää. Normaalioloissa olisin vappuaattona istunut ensin punaiset haalarit jalassa piknikillä Hovioikeudenpuistossa usean sadan muun korkeakouluopiskelijan kanssa, käynyt kuuden aikaan katsomassa patsaan lakitusta ja asetellut oman valkolakin päähäni, ja mennyt sen jälkeen varmaan pikaruokapaikan kautta jonkun kaverin luo istumaan loppuiltaa. Tällä kaavalla meni ainakin viime vuoden vappu, ja hauskaa oli.
Lapsuuden vappuina parasta olivat vappuhuiskat, vapputori ja tivoli. Vappuhuiskia piti tietenkin huiskuttaa kotona kyllästymiseen asti, ja irronneita paperisuikaleita löytyi aina liimaantuneina vaatteisiin. Tivolissa pääsi aina pariin laitteeseen, jotka olivat tietenkin niitä kaikkein hurjimpia. Muistan edelleen sen vapun, jolloin olin kotona kipeänä ja sisko oli voittanut mulle tivolin köydenvedosta pienen hyljepehmolelun. Nimesin sen ja itse aiemmin voittamani ankan Emmaksi ja Geriksi Spice Girlsien mukaan, haha.
Vapputorilla oli paljon kivoja kojuja ja iloinen tunnelma. Lapsena oli mahtavaa päästä nuuhkimaan kojuista kaikkia pieniä hilavitkuttimia ja ostamaan karkkikaulakoruja. Olenko koskaan sanonut, että olen edelleen ihan markkinaihminen? Oon aina kiertelemässä kaikkia kojuja ja rakastan markkinoiden ja torien tunnelmaa.
Lapsuuden ja yliopistoajan väliset vaput ovat vähän hämärää aikaa, sillä ne eivät tainneet olla mitenkään erikoisia. Usein vapulle osui joku jääkiekon mm-kisojen ottelu, jota katsoin, ja sen jälkeen puhaltelin vapputorveen. Ei varmaan mitään sen kummempaa. Yhden asian muistan kuitenkin kotoa: vappuna syötiin aina tortilloja. Ja koska tämän vuoden vappu oli muuten niin poikkeuksellinen, halusin tuoda sen yhden tutun asian mukanani.
Vappuaattona me siis söimme tortilloja ja katselimme televisiota. Poikaystävä otti musta muutaman hauskan vappukuvan parvekkeella. Oon viime aikona innostunut juomaan kombuchaa, ja se olikin mun vappuaaton spesiaaliherkku. Munkit tuli syötyä jo aiemmin ja simasta en välitä lainkaan.
Vappupäivänä poikaystäväni laittoi meille hyvää ruokaa, avasimme raparperikuoharin ja nautimme ruoan parvekkeella vilttihuppareihin kietoutuneena. Juttelimme siitä, mihin tositv-ohjelmiin voisimme osallistua ja mihin kumpikaan meistä ei ikinä lähtisi. Käväisimme myös torilla syömässä kevään ekat kioskijätskit.
Kaiken kaikkiaan mulla oli siis aika hyvä vappu. Toki olisi kiva ollut istua piknikillä kavereiden kanssa, mutta en voi tästäkään valittaa. Hyvää ruokaa ja vielä parempaa seuraa, ja kaupan päälle yksi ylimääräinen vapaapäivä. Nämä juhlat tulevat kuitenkin joka vuosi, joten en jaksa jäädä harmittelemaan yhden vapun perään.

Voi, ymmärrän harmituksen ensimmäisen opiskelijavapun kohdalla! Mulla olisi ollut jo kuudes, joten ei hirveästi enää jäänyt kaivelemaan. Mutta hei, sä ehdit onneksi vielä ja varmaan ihan kyllästymiseen asti viettää opiskelijavappua. Itse en oo koskaan sitä noin 20 päivää jaksanut juhlia, vaan valinnut aina parhaat päältä.
